Castarède VSOP is a blend of 30% Colombard, 20% Folle Blanche and 50% Ugni Blanc Armagnac, aged for at least around 20 years (some 10 years more than the XO tag requires). The Castarède family was ennobled in 1818, and two decades later established their distillery in 1832 (a few years before France was equipped with a railway). Founded in 1832, the house is the oldest business still operating in the Armagnac. Under the guidance of the Castarede family six generations on, Armagnac Castarede makes available vintage and non-vintage Armagnacs distilled primarily between 1900-2000 from throughout the Bas Armagnac.
